PROGRESS UPDATE – JANUARY 2025

CADANGAN MEMBINA RUMAH IBADAT SELAIN ISLAM (RISI) YANG MENGANDUNGI: 5 TINGKAT RUANG IBADAT DAN 1 TINGKAT BAWAH TANAH TEMPAT LETAK KERETA DAN 1 KEBUK SAMPAH

NO. 4 (LOT 94215), Jalan Tasik Chenderoh U4/28A, Kwasa Damansara, Seksyen U4, 40150 Shah alam, Mukim Sungai Buloh, Daerah Petaling, Selangor Darul Ehsan.

· The Ariya Vihara RIBI (Rumah Ibadat Bukan Islam) land (Lot 94215) of 0.45 acre was gazetted on 18 March 2021 (Seksyen 62 Kanun Tanah Negara) by the Selangor State Government (WKN) No.523. We express our gratitude to the state and country.

· The second appeal for Building Setback in Transit Oriented Development was approved in October 2021.

· “Kebenaran Merancang” for “Jalan Dan Perparitan Di atas Lot RIBI” (Access Road) Jalan Tasik Chenderoh U4/28A was approved on 29 August 2022 and extended to 29 August 2024 by MBSA.

· “Kebenaran Merancang” (Development Order) on No.4, (Lot 94215) (Seksyen 22, Akta 172) was approved by Majlis Perbandaran Shah Alam on 18 September 2023.

· Land consecration was auspiciously held on 29 September 2023 by Ariya Vihara Executive Committee (Exco) led by Ven. Sumangala Bhikkhuni (Founder and Abbess of Ariya Vihara) and Building Project Team, with the blessings of Bhikkhu and Bhikkhuni Sangha, upasaka and upasika.

· The first Bhikkhuni Sima Consecration in Malaysia was successfully completed on 23 April 2024, with the participation of 17 esteemed bhikkhunis from Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Indonesia, Australia and Thailand, comprising 5 Maha Theri(s), 5 Theri (s) and 7 bhikkhunis with higher ordination (upasampadā) from 1998 to 2018. Notable among them were Ven. Saddhasumana Mahatheri, Ven. Sumanapali Mahatheri, Ven. Santini Mahatheri, Ven. Viditadhamma Mahatheri and Ven. Susanta Mahatheri. The Saṅghakamma (monastic formal procedures according to the Vinaya) for the removal of possible pre-existing Sima(s) was completed on 22 April 2024 while the demarcation and declaration of the new Sima was completed on 23 April 2024.

· Tender for the construction of the RIBI shared access road has been awarded to UCSI. Work has commenced for Phase 1 and is estimated to be completed by the first half of 2025.

Good News! The Detailed Building Plan was approved by MBSA on 15 November 2024.

· Groundbreaking Ceremony was successfully held on 12 January 2025, attended by 26 senior Sangha members from 3 traditions (bhikkhus and bhikkhunis), special guests, building project committee and consultants, sponsors and donors, leaders and representatives of Buddhist and religious societies, Ariya Vihara’s members and devotees and Dhamma friends. The symbolic act of groundbreaking was performed in 3 rounds by 28 selected individual respectively in each round, representing the Sangha, special guests, the Ariya Vihara Exco (current and past), building project committee and consultants, sponsors and donors, Ariya Vihara sub-committees and supporters, and representatives of Buddhist societies.

· Look out for the commencement of construction : Earth work and piling are estimated to take place around the first half of 2025 and it is estimated to take 9 months to complete.
